About Us

Joanne Howard is the Principal and Founder of JLH Advisory LLC and a distinguished sustainability professional with over 20 years of experience in the energy industry. She specializes in advising clients on developing authentic sustainability solutions, carbon management programs, strategic development, risk management practices, effective communication strategies, and impactful community outreach initiatives.

Previously, Joanne was the Senior Vice President of Sustainability and Corporate Communications for Crestwood Equity Partners LP, prior to its acquisition by Energy Transfer in November 2023. In this role, she managed and advanced sustainability practices, integrating them into strategic planning and operations. Joanne was also responsible for overseeing current and future ESG risks and opportunities. She led the external reporting of Crestwood’s programs and performance, including the publication of the annual sustainability report, and was accountable for the company's carbon management plan and emission reduction strategies. Additionally, Joanne managed Crestwood’s community investment program, ensuring investments achieved the greatest societal and business benefits.

Before joining Crestwood in 2018, Joanne was the Director of Sustainability at Spectra Energy for six years, where she oversaw the integration of sustainability programs with Enbridge following their merger in 2017. Earlier in her career, she served as Vice-Consul for Energy and Environment at UK Trade & Investment, located at the British Consulate-General in Houston. In this role, Joanne worked extensively on a range of sustainability and energy policy issues, including energy security, renewables, and climate policy.

Joanne's exceptional contributions have been recognized through various accolades. She was named an Influential Woman in Energy by Oil & Gas Investor in 2024, honored as a Women Who Mean Business by the Houston Business Journal in 2022, and received the 2021 GRIT Award for Sustainability and Climate Champion from Ally Energy.

In addition to her professional achievements, Joanne is the Chair of the Young Women’s College Preparatory Academy in Houston. She also serves on the boards of the Children’s Environmental Literacy Foundation, the British American Foundation of Texas, and the Awty International Alumni Association.
